How to appeal:
You must have filed an appeal with the Review Panel prior to filing an appeal with the Board. The deadline for filing with the
Review Panel was January 31, 2024. Only in very rare circumstances can the Board hear an appeal that has not been
heard by the Review Panel. See the Board's Information Sheet #3
for more information.
There are three ways you can file your appeal:
- Electronically file through this website:
Submit your appeal online - payment by credit card
- Complete the assessment appeal
form and send it to the Board via mail, fax, courier or personal delivery. Include cheque payable to the Minister of Finance when mailing or sending by courier.
- Send your own letter of appeal to the Board via mail, fax, courier or personal
delivery. Provide the same information as requested on the assessment appeal form. Include cheque payable to the Minister of Finance when mailing or sending by courier.

The Board is independent of BC Assessment and the Property Assessment Review Panel
(first level of review). Documents and evidence previously submitted to these
organizations are not forwarded to the Board. Once the appeal has been registered
details will be provided on how to submit documents. The Board does not have a portal
for uploading documents at this time. Detailed documents are not required at time
of filing the appeal.
Personal Information:
Board hearings, and some other appeal processes, are public proceedings. Information
from this notice of appeal is publicly accessible. The Board will upload to our
website the names of parties, grounds of appeal and property assessment information.
Other information may also be producible upon request. For more information please
see
Guidelines for Information Access for Board Appeals, which can be viewed on the
Board’s website.
A Note on Property Taxes:
The Board recommends all property holders pay their property tax by the due date to
avoid any late charges and interest. If the assessment is lowered, even if during an
early resolution in April, adjustments will not likely be made prior to the July 1
tax due date. For any over-payment in taxes, please contact your municipality to
discuss reimbursement.
