March 12, 2024 The Board has released its 2023 Annual Report.
February 13, 2024 The Board is hosting its annual Stakeholders Forum to review the past year and get feedback on our processes. We invite everyone involved in assessment appeals throughout British Columbia to attend the Forum.
December 4, 2023 The Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Madisun Browne, Vice Chair.  
May 23, 2023 Effective immediately, Karen Ameyaw, Yasin Amlani, Christine Arnold, Chris Chung, Courtnee Clark, Janice Thomas, Robert Wickett and Philip Yang have been appointed as part-time Members to the Board.
March 28, 2023 The Board has released its 2022 Annual Report.
February 13, 2023 Effective February 15, 2023, Erin Frew has been appointed Chair of the Property Assessment Appeal Board.  
February 5, 2023 The Ministry of Finance has announced that appeal fees will increase, effective for the 2023 assessment appeal cycle as follows:
  • The following property types will be subject to a $30 appeal fee per property appealed: residential, supportive housing, recreation and non-profit, farm.
  • The following property types will be subject to a $300 appeal fee per property appealed: Utility, light and major industry, business and other, and managed forest land

The Property Assessment Appeal Board is the second level of review for property assessment appeals.  We are a neutral arbiter of assessment appeals and independent of BC Assessment (who set the assessments), the Property Assessment Review Panel (first level of review), municipalities (who set tax rates and collect taxes) and the Provincial Government.  Assessment appeal fees are set by Government regulation and not within the jurisdiction of the Board.  
May 6, 2022 The Board has released the first interactive application of its kind in British Columbia.  The Pilot Project – called the Equity Evaluator - provides the power of Artificial Intelligence to residential homeowners.  If you have an appeal with the Board, you can try the application.
